Oh, hello! I am a Seattle-based graphic designer, production artist, photographer, and image retoucher with backgrounds in journalism and music.

To me, creativity is the outward expression of an interconnected existence through redefinition and re-creation. I care about the wellbeing of people, animals, and the environment, and I see creativity as a way to pursue the potential we have for improving our experience of existence.

My portfolio begins with my two most recent graphic design roles for Talking Rain Beverage Company and Marcus & Millichap’s team The Vara Group.

Subsequently, work samples are organized by industry and project because my responsibilities often extended past individual job titles. My graphic design positions with Restaurants Unlimited and Tori Belle/LashLiner also involved a significant amount of photography and retouching. The beauty industry and restaurant industry sections of this portfolio showcase print and digital graphic design, as well as asset creation and editing.

My work history below includes links to accompanying work samples.

Thanks for stopping by!

Photojournalist and Graphic Designer

Rwanda Partners/All Across Africa

2011-2012

(View work samples here.)

My involvement with All Across Africa (formerly called Rwanda Partners) began with a Graphic Design Internship. This opportunity quickly expanded into an independent project planning and implementing a benefit concert to purchase uniforms for a school in Rwanda. I booked five artists to perform at The Triple Door's Musicquarium Lounge in Seattle. I contacted businesses and gathered donations for a silent auction. I designed digital and print promotional materials and also distributed and hung posters.

As a Volunteer Photojournalist in Rwanda, I traveled with Kigali-based staff and translators to gather interviews, photographs, video, and research about business development, education, healthcare, and post-genocide reconciliation. I completed feature articles and sent content back to the Seattle office every few days along with relevant photos and captions.

After returning to the US, as a Volunteer Photographer and Graphic Designer I styled and photographed lifestyle images demonstrating everyday uses of Rwandan baskets. I designed the initial layout for an informational book utilized to sell baskets at Costco stores throughout the country. I also worked a 10-day Costco roadshow by sharing stories and my passion for Rwanda with customers and using the book to illustrate how the baskets were made, who the artists are, everyday uses for the products, and how supporting the nonprofit contributed directly and intentionally to the artisans and their communities.

Independently, I created a 25-minute film. I wrote the script, recorded narrations, and edited the video footage and still images I had taken in Rwanda. The film was shown at the 2012 Faith, Reason, and World Affairs Symposium of Concordia College.

Worked as a photographer and then as the photo editor for "The Concordian," the weekly student-run newspaper. Collaborated with writers to cover current events and profile pieces and adhered to AP style in writing photo captions. Developed leadership and communication skills by organizing coverage amongst photographers, reporters, and editing staff. Selected effective imagery for news layouts in Adobe InDesign, edited photographs with Adobe Photoshop, and followed the NPPA code of ethics.
